Juan Diasgranados is the Public Affairs Manager for the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department, the eighth largest jail system in the country, overseeing and implementing the internal and external communications including all publications, videography, photography and crisis communication strategies for the office.
As a member of Command staff, Juan provides strategic direction and oversight for the departments' media and community relations efforts. His mission includes engaging the department through various outlets with creative content that communicates the departments brand, inspires participation and generates trust between law enforcement and the community.
He joined the Department in 2017 and has over 8 years years of experience in the field of journalism and communication.
Prior to his current position, he was a Public Information Officer serving public-sector clients on a myriad of community outreach and public relations projects. He has worked for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Four and District Six, and the City of Miami Beach .
Juan is originally from the D.C. area and graduated from Hampton University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
Legacy Magazine recognized his commitment to public service and named him as Legacy Miami 40 under 40. This combination of leadership and inspiration is exactly the kind of forward giving momentum that Mr. Diasgranados has dedicated his life’s work to in his community and around the county.
Juan is an active member of the South Florida community, serving as a member of the South Florida Chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists, and National Association of Hispanic Journalists, South Florida chapters. Mr. Diasgranados lives in Miami and often spends his weekends fishing or attending Miami Heat games.
