Nicole Beckett, M.A. serves as the Jail Based Behavioral Services (JBBS) Program Administrator for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in Castle Rock, Colorado. She received her B.A. in Criminal Justice from New Mexico State (2011) and her M.A. in Forensic Psychology from the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Professional Psychology (2013).
Nicole’s career with the Sheriff’s Office began in 2012 during an internship with the Investigations Division. In 2013, she was hired as a Detentions Specialist where she worked in booking and housing units, continuing to work in the Classifications Division before making her way back to Investigations.
Her current role began in 2017 where she bridges her learned and trained knowledge to supervise and facilitate care for Douglas County’s returning citizens. She has applied for and received over $500,000 in grants. Nicole manages these grants and the nine personnel that are supported through them. She is well known in the JBBS field and has been asked to sit as a panelist several times to share the program and how she has overcome the challenges that occur with programming in jails.
One of her recent accomplishments was the implementation of a Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program at DCSO jail. Nicole earned the Lifesaving Award for performing the Heimlich maneuver on a coworker in dire need back in 2016. Then, this past year she received the Dedication to Excellence award from the National Institute of Jail Operations.
Nicole continues to serve her county by volunteering as a Crisis Intervention Training Coach. She also recently attended the peer support training and is now available as a resource for staff. With a passion for serial killers, her favorite television shows include Dexter, You, and Mindhunter which helps keep her skills sharp and on the lookout for her next client in the jail.
