During his 13-year career at the Merrimack County Department of Corrections, Superintendent Costanzo has held many roles, titles, and positions on his path to Superintendent. His career started in 2009 as a Corrections Officer, graduating from the 84th Correctional Officer Academy as the Honor Graduate. Superintendent Costanzo also served nine years in the New Hampshire Army National Guard Infantry unit. At the Department of Corrections, Superintendent Costanzo progressed through the ranks and In July of 2021, Costanzo was appointed to Superintendent of the Merrimack County Department of Corrections, a progressive 315 bed facility located in New Hampshire. During his time, he received numerous awards and recognition, including the American Jail Magazines 35, under 35 in the field of Corrections. As an avid dog lover with a true understanding of the importance of working dogs in the Correctional Setting, Superintendent Costanzo developed and implemented the Merrimack County K9 Program, becoming a certified K9 Handler himself. Through his continued progression within Merrimack County Department of Corrections, Superintendent Costanzo continued to put leadership and support of his department first by graduating from the National Jail Command Leadership Academy, successfully completing his Certified Jail Manager certification, and most recently graduating from NACO’s High Performance Leadership Academy. Superintendent Costanzo also spends time giving back to the community through his involvement with the Salvation Army and continues to support the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth as a player and fundraiser for Team Police in the annual Battle of the Badges Baseball Game. Although passionate and dedicated to his career and bettering the Corrections response in Merrimack County, Superintendent Costanzo loves spending time with his family and being outdoors. His role as Dad (to his daughter and 4-legged “children”) is his truly his most important focus in life.
