The administration’s role is the most far-reaching one in the organization. Staff look to the leadership as a model for the rest of the agency, especially when it comes to the jail’s primary function of managing inmate behavior. When agency leadership thoroughly understands Strategic Inmate Management (SIM) and is modelling the way for success, they ensure all staff roles and operations are fully aligned with SIM, make decisions within the SIM framework, manage change and staff resistance, actively demonstrates commitment to SIM, and supports consistent organizational speech. This workshop explores the vast role of the administration in a SIM-operated agency, facilitates discussion on strategies for success, and identifies opportunities to enhance current operations.
