Jeremy Adler, MD, MSc is Clinical Professor of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Health Services Research at the University of Michigan. He is the Director of the Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program and Director of Research and Quality Improvement in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. Dr. Adler is also a Faculty Investigator in the Susan B. Meister Child Health Evaluation and Research (CHEAR) Center at the University of Michigan. His research centers around improving short and long-term outcomes and reducing barriers to care for children and young adults with inflammatory bowel disease. He is particularly interested in developing strategies to prevent disease related complications such as fistulas, strictures, and pouchitis, and to mitigate disparities among children with IBD.
Dr. Adler received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and earned his MD degree at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Boston City Hospital (now Boston Medical Center). He practiced general pediatrics in New York for several years before moving to Michigan to train in pediatric gastroenterology. Dr. Adler completed his pediatric gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Michigan. He then obtained a Master of Science in health services research at the University of Michigan and completed additional training in advanced improvement methods at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.
Dr. Adler is the current Chair of the Clinical Research Investigator-Initiated Awards Committee (CRIA) for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation’s National Scientific Advisory Committee (NSAC). He is the Chair of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Committee for the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition (NASPGHAN). He also serves as the Co-Chair of the ImproveCareNow Network Research Committee. He previously served on the Nominating Committee for Growth, Development & Child Health Section, American Gastrointestinal Association (AGA) Institute Council and as an invited voting member of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He also has served on the organizing committees of the Crohn’s & Colitis Congress, NASPGHAN’s annual scientific conference, and the regional Annual IBD Update.
Dr. Adler lives in Ann Arbor with his wife, 2 daughters, and 2 cats named Dr. Bunsen Honeydew her assistant and Beaker.
