Kevin P. Mollen, M.D. is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and the Surgical Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program at the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. His clinical research interests include the surgical indications and outcomes of pediatric and adolescent patients with IBD. He received his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and his medical degree from the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He trained in General Surgery and Pediatric Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. In additional to his clinical work, Dr. Mollen is an epithelial biologist, funded by the NIH to study mitochondrial dysfunction and metabolic reprogramming within the intestinal epithelium during inflammation. He is also a recent recipient of the Litwin Pioneers Award from the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.
