Residents function as critical educators in classroom and clinic-based environments; however, they often have limited training in evidence-based educational practices. Resident-as-teacher programs in other health professions have been developed to prepare residents to be more effective educators. Our seminar will describe a resident-as-teacher workshop developed for first-year residents at the University of North Carolina. Through the workshop, you will learn about the strategies that can be taught to residents and techniques to evaluate the impact of such programs. You will leave the session prepared to implement resident-as-teacher programs at your institution.
