The 2021 Class of the ADEA Leadership Institute explored a variety of known factors and critical uncertainties to construct scenarios, plausible alternative futures for dental education. Although the scenarios informed strategies and decisions over a five-year period, change is a notoriously slow process. This signature series, led by the 2022 Class of the ADEA Leadership Institute, will help guide the change process by exploring the connection between current challenges facing dental education and future desired alternative solutions. Each peer group will outline a framework of essential functions and planning that dental education, or a dental institution, needs to consider in order to proactively prepare to arrive at the desired future state. Participants will circulate through a series of roundtables to discuss how to incorporate planning principles as roadmaps for addressing the challenges and changes.
Learning Objectives:
Explore organizational agility and contingency planning principles.
Describe different perspective on critical contingencies to improve dental education’s preparedness for future challenges.
Apply strategy and tactics to agile decision making in academic dental institutions.
