Periodontal instrumentation is traditionally taught by lectures, followed by simulation on typodonts and working on classmates before starting patient care. Animated videos can bridge the learning gap between the lecture and the simulation and help retain the knowledge better. Customized animation is time-consuming and expensive but if properly designed, can enhance teaching and learning. Audience members will learn how to design an online periodontal instrumentation course using multimedia tools.
