For many new Diplomates, negotiating their first “real” job can be daunting. This seminar focuses on the broad topic of negotiation and what strategies might be most effective in getting the job that is the best fit.

Topics include:

• different approaches to negotiation, bringing in material from outside the veterinary industry and incorporating industry-specific dynamics;


• key pieces in an employment contract from the “lay person’s” perspective and the effective use of legal expertise; and,


• how to evaluate an offer so that the candidate is comparing similar components, which can be very complicated when bringing in factors such as benefits and production calculations.
