Small animal soft tissue surgical patients may carry notable morbidity and mortality risks. This seminar includes speakers presenting current standards for abrogating risk in these cases and new methods recently developed or under investigation. Example topics include but are not limited to gastrointestinal surgery, biliary surgery, adrenalectomy, maxillectomy, and skin/reconstructive cases.

Learning Objectives:

Gain a deeper understanding of procedure-specific tissue healing and how the surgeon can influence these.
Understand the findings of relevant peer-reviewed publications which identify pre-, intra-, or post-operative patient management strategies to lower risks of complications.
Gain exposure to novel investigations currently underway (cutting edge studies that may not get be in the published literature) that aim to further identify patient risk factors for complications or develop methods to reduce patient risks.
