Associate Professor, Small Animal Surgery Oregon State University Corvallis
This seminar delves into some common mistakes of newly minted ACVS Diplomates, how to avoid them, and the growth that happens in the first years after certification. The wheel should not be reinvented every time, and as a profession there should be more transparency regarding how to avoid complications. Think of this seminar like mini-M&M rounds, covering how to avoid and learn from common (and not so common) mistakes before encountering them with patients. Each decade of being a specialist will bring about new challenges for surgery, and while more mistakes are going to be made in this profession, learning how to grow from them is paramount to success.
