This lecture provides an overview of several key elements contributing to burnout among clinicians. Participants learn how professional burnout and fulfillment can be assessed and what factors may be addressed through specific interventions. Participants explore the motivations behind why surgeons choose different career paths and how these choices influence work-life balance. In addition, participants learn about the role that sleep plays in performance and surgeon well-being. Finally, an interactive panel discussion explores the major obstacles affecting surgeon quality of life and brainstorm strategies for dealing with these challenges.
