Management of traumatic hernias most commonly involves patients with severe systemic injuries. Traumatic hernias include diaphragmatic, abdominal body wall and thoracic body wall hernias with organ displacement and damage being possible. The decision to take a highly traumatized patient must always be balanced with stability and these assessments are discussed. Diagnostics and best practices in surgical repair of a variety of hernias are reviewed during this lecture.
