This seminar will focus on the anatomical and physiological adaptations of marine mammals to the aquatic environment, and how these adaptations affect surgical site and procedure approach and preparation as well as monitoring during surgical procedures. Considerations will include how the aquatic lifestyle impacts surgical procedures and planning for both wild and captive marine mammals with a focus on pinniped, cetacean and sea otter species.
