Surgical management of endocrine disease presents a unique set of challenges in that the surgeon must anticipate the repercussions associated with disruption of the endocrine system. Furthermore, many surgical conditions affecting the endocrine system are relatively uncommon, and as a result, information regarding best practices and prognostication is sparse and frequently debated. During this seminar, speakers present comprehensive updates on techniques for managing several types of surgical endocrine disease. Conditions including thyroid, adrenal, and pancreatic surgery are addressed, with a panel discussion regarding best practices for perioperative management of these conditions.
