Dr. Torres is an assistant professor of small animal orthopedic surgery and director of the Motion Analysis Laboratory at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Torres received his bachelor’s degree from Clemson University and his DVM from the University of Georgia (UGA). He stayed at UGA to complete a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery and then worked for several years as a small animal general practitioner in the Atlanta area. He returned to UGA to complete a two-year postdoctoral research fellowship focused on gait analysis, musculoskeletal biomechanics, and osteoarthritis. He stayed at UGA for a small animal surgical residency followed by a PhD in physiology. He has research interests in gait analysis, osteoarthritis and pain management, and sports medicine and rehabilitation. He is a member of several organizations, including the Orthopaedic Research Society, the Osteoarthritis Research Society International, and the Evidence-Based Veterinary Medicine Association.
