Resident in Small Animal Surgery
University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center
Dr. Eginton is a 2017 graduate of St. George's University's DVM/MPH dual degree program. She has completed a rotating internship at the University of Minnesota and three surgical internships at MedVet Cincinnati, MedVet New Orleans, and Animal Surgical Center of Michigan. She also completed a 3 month internship in Public Health at the US Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Disease (USAMRIID) as part of her MPH training.
She is currently a 2nd year resident at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center, under the advisement of Dr. Mike Conzemius. She has a strong interest in teaching and how best to present surgical education to veterinary students in a way that prepares them for practice, which she is investigating with Dr. Wanda Gordon-Evans. She enjoys all areas of surgery, however after three high-orthopedic load internships she is more comfortable with hips and knees than livers (something she hopes to improve on this year). With the support of the U of MN faculty, she was fortunate enough to be selected for the Mark S. Bloomberg Resident Research Award at the VOS/WVOC conference in March this year and hopes to contribute more as she continues as a resident and eventually as an ACVS boarded surgeon.
