Jennifer Haupt, DVM, DACVS (Large Animal) is a director of preclinical research at Medtronic, where she supports the development of new medical devices through early-stage in vivo safety and efficacy testing prior to regulatory approval and clinical use. Before transitioning to industry, she was the chief of surgical resources within the Division of Comparative Medicine at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she helped perform and coordinate surgical procedures in all mammalian species. Dr. Haupt remains active in training and advancing surgical models in the lab animal community. She completed her undergraduate education at Cornell University, where she worked in the Comparative Orthopedics Laboratory under Dr. Alan Nixon. She completed veterinary school at Michigan State University, followed by an equine internship at Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center. She completed her large animal surgery residency at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.
