Dr. Zacharias is a 2003 graduate of Iowa State University (ISU) College of Veterinary Medicine. He completed an internship at Oakridge Equine Hospital in Oklahoma, then went on to a surgery residency at Purdue University. After an emergency surgery position at ISU, he worked at a private practice in Texas for two years before moving to his current position at Countryside Large Animal in Greeley, CO, in 2010. He is board-certified with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Zacharias attended Kentucky Horseshoeing School and apprenticed with the resident journeyman farrier at the ISU veterinary hospital. He incorporates this experience into daily sports medicine and surgery practice. Dr. Zacharias has interests in orthopedic and upper respiratory surgery, lameness, and podiatry. He has a diverse caseload in Colorado; however, western performance lameness and surgery predominates. Dr. Zacharias has presented at multiple national, state, and regional meetings, as well as various webinars. He was honored with an ACVS resident research award and the Veterinary Orthopedic Society Mark S. Bloomberg award.
