Dr. Bennett graduated as a veterinarian from Massey University in New Zealand in 2010. Following graduation, he worked at a large companion animal practice in South Australia and concurrently worked closely with wildlife rehabilitation organizations, in particular with koalas. Dr. Bennett then undertook a surgical internship under Dr. Rod Straw during which he attained membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in small animal surgery by examination. Upon completion of his internship, he was accepted into a residency training program under Dr. Straw. Whilst enjoying all aspects of specialist surgery, he developed keen interests in advanced soft tissue surgery and in particular surgical oncology. He continued to follow his passion for surgical oncology and moved to Colorado to undertake a surgical oncology fellowship program at Colorado State University in 2019. Dr. Bennett currently works as a small animal surgeon in Sydney, Australia at the Small Animal Specialist Hospital.
