Dr. Hawkins received her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania in 1997, completed a residency and fellowship in exotic animal medicine and surgery, University of California, Davis in 2001 and joined the faculty there in 2003. She is currently professor of exotic animal medicine and surgery and director of the California Raptor Center.
