Dr. O'Neill grew up on a farm in Northern Ireland and attributed his passion and curiosity for the horse to his father. He graduated as a veterinarian in 2005 from the University College Dublin, then was in farm animal practice in Northern Ireland for several years. Dr. O'Neill was an intern at Donnington Grove Veterinary Surgery from 2008 to 2009 and, inspired by this experience, secured an equine surgery training program at Michigan State University under Dr. John Stick's tutelage. Dr. O'Neill qualified as a Diplomat, American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2013 and earned a master of science at the same time in equine upper airway research. He holds memberships to both the British and American Veterinary Medical Associations. Although Dr. O'Neill conducts all forms of surgery and lameness within the hospital, his particular interests are equine respiratory, orthopedic, and minimally invasive surgery.
