Dr. Steffey is a professor of small animal soft tissue surgery at the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. She obtained her DVM from the University of California, Davis, completed a 1-year general rotating internship at the University of Pennsylvania, and a 3-year residency in small animal surgery at Cornell University. She became board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgery in 2004 and was inducted as an ACVS Founding Fellow, Surgical Oncology in 2013 and an ACVS Founding Fellow, Minimally Invasive Surgery in 2018. Her clinical focus is in minimally invasive procedures, and her research program centers on the overlapping areas of tumor ablation, minimally invasive surgery, and traditional surgical oncology, with special interests in near infrared imaging, lymphatic metastsis and sentinel lymph node mapping, and cryoablation/microwave ablation.
