Dr. Boothe received his DVM from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1970, followed by a two-year stint in an AAHA-certified small animal private practice in Barrington, IL. Dr. Boothe finished a residency in small animal surgery at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1975. During his 28-year employment at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M University, Dr. Boothe became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1979, completed a master of science degree in Veterinary Physiology in 1982, and received the Distinguished Teaching Award from the Association of Former Students in 1987. Dr. Boothe completed 17 years as a professor of surgery in the Department of Clinical Sciences at Auburn University. He was granted professor emeritus of small animal clinical sciences at Texas A&M University in 2009 and professor emeritus of clinical sciences at Auburn University in 2020. He has authored or co-authored 28 abstracts, 71 referred journal articles, and 51 book chapters.
