Dr. Salazar is a board-certified veterinary anesthesiologist and is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia. She completed her veterinary school at Texas A&M and her residency there as well. Prior to coming to her current position at Gulf Coast Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Salazar was an assistant professor at the Center for Veterinary Health Sciences at Oklahoma State University. She is also a member of the National Veterinary Associates Compassion-First (NVA-CF) Specialty Advisory Board, representing all anesthesiologists within the NVA-CF network hospitals. Furthermore, she is chair of the NVA-CF Medical Advisory Board which is responsible for ensuring patient safety throughout the NVA-CF network hospitals. She considers teaching the most current anesthesia protocols as one of the most enjoyable aspects of her job. Her particular clinical interests include ultrasound guided nerve blocks, novel approaches to anesthesia, advanced respiratory intubations, transfusion medicine, and cardiovascular physiology.
