Sager attained a veterinary technology degree in 2003 from St. Petersburg College and moved to the anesthesia department at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. Sager obtained a VTS in anesthesia in 2008 and a VTS in emergency and critical care in 2009. As the current president of the AVTAA, Sager’s goal is to promote veterinary nursing and a higher standard of patient care. Sager has written three book chapters on anesthesia, anesthesia, and critical care, and one on supra-epiglottic airway device and spoken at several local and national conferences on anesthesia in various topics of emergency and critical care, large animal and local regional blocks. Most recent contributions include helping to publish the American Association of Feline Practitioners 2018 Feline Anesthesia Guidelines and co-chairing the 2020 AAHA Anesthesia Guidelines. Sager serves as locum for Midmark Animal Health as an anesthesia trainer. This provides the opportunity to teach general practice technicians the fundamentals of anesthesia, and the benefit of higher trained staff for the betterment of the practice and patients.
