This presentation will review the biology and benefits of RNA particle vaccines, detailing unique features that make them different and an exciting addition to the world of veterinary vaccines. The results of a trial in cats will also be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
Gain familiarity with the mechanism of action of RNA particle vaccines following injection into a vaccinate
Understand the unique properties of RNA particle vaccines that make them safe and effective
Be able to compare and contrast RNA particle vaccines with lipid nanoparticle encapsulated mRNA vaccines
Explore the possibilities for future application of these vaccines in companion animals, as exemplified by the use of an RNA particle vaccine to immunize cats against SARS-CoV-2
