Three presenters will discuss state-of-the-art updates on Bartonella infection in a One Health context. Topics will include a review of Bartonella epidemiology and transmission, including a summary of current evidence for tick-borne transmission of Bartonella, evidence for Bartonella infection in dogs with hemangiosarcoma, and mechanisms of Bartonella pathogenesis in biofilm formation and angiogenesis among others.

Learning Objectives:

Using the understanding of Bartonella epidemiology and transmission gained from this session, you will be able to better evaluate the risk of Bartonella exposure in your patients.
You will gain the background to critically analyze current and future studies linking Bartonella spp. infection with hemangiosarcoma and other disease manifestations.
With the introduction to the pathogenesis of Bartonella infection, you will be able to create suitable diagnostic and treatment plans for patients you suspect may have bartonellosis.
