Use of Omega-3 Fatty Acids, EPA and DHA, in Cats

Cats with inflammatory conditions, including osteoarthritis, chronic kidney disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and dermatologic disease are frequently managed with supplemental EPA and DHA. However, there is limited evidence supporting the use of EPA and DHA for chronic diseases in dogs and even less evidence supporting the benefits of supplementing EPA and DHA in adult cats. This presentation will focus on the evidence behind using EPA and DHA in cats in clinical practice and the limited information available on dosing and dosing strategies.
