Discuss the changes in mineral metabolism that develop with progressive kidney disease. Include decrease in renal function, results in increases in FGF23, and parathyroid hormone, in part to prevent phosphate accumulation. This is followed by decreases in both active and nutritional vitamin D, ultimately results in hyperphosphatemia, hypocalcemia, hyperparathyroidism and increased risk of calcification and cardiovascular disease. Will also discuss therapuetic approaches
