Rational Antithrombotic Use in Small Animals

Antithrombotic medications are commonly prescribed for the prevention and treatment of thrombosis in dogs and cats. This session will review rationale approaches to antithrombotic prescription in small animals utilizing case examples. Specifically, approaches to using these drugs for prevention vs. treatment, dogs vs. cats, and inpatient vs. outpatient will be reviewed. The transition of drug protocols for hospitalized and outpatients will be reviewed, as well as therapeutic monitoring options.
