Organoids are 3-dimensional mini-organs that can be cultured in vitro for extended periods of time. This lecture will give an overview of novel canine and feline organoids developed at the presenter's lab, including intestine, liver, bladder, cornea, and others. We will discuss the organoid's usefulness for disease modelling and drug testing, and show some applications for each of the tissues.

Learning Objectives:

Attendees will learn about novel in vitro techniques to study diseases and drug testing which have the ability to replace in vivo testing in dogs and cats, as well as their potential future use in regenerative medicine.
Upon completion, learners will be able to know what 3-dimensional organoids are and how they can be used for veterinary applications.
Upon completion, learners will be able to know the potential furture uses of this novel technology.
