Dr. Burgess is an assistant professor of epidemiology and infection control, Department of Population Health, College of Veterinary Medicine; and Director of Infection Control, Veterinary Medical Center, University of Georgia. She earned a DVM from Colorado State University; a MSc, internship and residency in large animal medicine at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan; and a PhD in epidemiology and residency in infection control at Colorado State University. She is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine.
