Veterinary Student
Colorado State University
Fort Collins, Colorado, United States
My name is Amanda Diaz and I am a third year veterinary student at Colorado State University. After graduation I plan to do a rotating internship and then a residency in Internal Medicine.
I have had the opportunity to work on research involving renal disease in cats while in veterinary school. Kidney disease is the most common cause of mortality in cats over five years of age and is a disease that would benefit from more research. Researching this disease is important to me as I have had a personal cat with chronic kidney disease. Working with an Internist on his case piqued my interest in becoming an Internist myself. My interest was later solidified when I obtained a Master of Science degree in Global Health and Infectious Disease through Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. I found that I had a passion for diagnosing and treating infectious diseases, as well as the complex cases seen by Internists. I hope to contribute valuable research and knowledge to the veterinary field.
