Surita graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 2007 after which she spent 6 years in equine private practice before completing a four-year combined residency and professional doctorate in equine internal medicine, at Charles Sturt University, Australia. Her doctorate research project involved the evaluation of non-invasive diagnostic modalities to evaluate lower airway health of horses. She attained Diplomate status of the European College of Equine Internal Medicine in 2018 and joined the team at the University of Adelaide’s Equine Health & Performance Centre. Surita enjoys all aspects of equine medicine with a specific interest in non-infectious lower airway diseases, neonatal and adult critical care, ophthalmology, gastroenterology and therapeutics.
