Dr. Pierson received his BS in Animal Science from the University of Delaware (1978), MS in Poultry Science from Purdue University (1980), DVM and PhD from Virginia Tech (1984, 1993). He is a diplomate of the American College of Poultry Veterinarians (1994), Emeritus Professor of Biosecurity and Infection Control, and Clinical Specialist in Poultry Health with the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine (Virginia Tech) where he also served as Director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. He has authored over 85 book chapters, manuals, and peer-reviewed publications.
