He graduated in Veterinary Medicine, University of Bologna, Italy. He did an internship and a Ph.D. and he became a permanent staff member at the Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences - University of Bologna, where at present is Associate Professor. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Zurich, Switzerland; diplomate ECVIM-CA-internal medicine in 2012. He is past president of the European Society of Veterinary Endocrinology and a member of the executive committee of the ECVIM-CA congress. His main research focus is on small animal endocrinology.
