Small Animal Medicine Resident/PhD candidate

My name is John Shamoun and I am a dual Small Animal Internal Medicine resident and PhD student at North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. I am originally from Georgia and completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia - Go Dawgs! I obtained my veterinary degree from Ross University and completed a small animal rotating internship also at UGA. I started my residency in small animal internal medicine at NCSU in July 2020, and recently started my PhD training this past fall. My research interests include host-pathogen interactions in the setting of chronic/recurrent urinary tract infection. My hobbies include amateur woodworking, hiking, and spending time with my wife, dog, and cats.
