Jamie Sebastian graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in December 2017. During her undergraduate education, she interned in conservation veterinary work in both South Africa and Ecuador. After graduation, she moved to Kentucky for six months to work for Hagyard Equine Medical Institute during the breeding season of 2018 as a medicine intern. She enjoyed caring for and treating neonates, mares, and stallions.
Jamie is currently a veterinary student at the University of California-Davis, class of 2022. Throughout her veterinary education, Jamie has pursued an interest in infectious disease research, both locally and abroad. She has been involved in a variety of projects ranging in focus from Rift Valley Fever epidemiology in Tanzania to leptospirosis outbreaks in California. Her other career interests include small animal internal medicine, integrative medicine, and One Health. Jamie is happy to be in the clinical setting again and is excited to start a small animal rotating internship at the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center in New York City after graduation.
