The review will discuss the uses of external beam radiation therapy for veterinary patients, and the role of veterinary technicians in the management of these patients. This will include a basic review of external beam radiation therapy and of tumor types that we use it most commonly for in veterinary medicine. There will also be a discussion in the management of side effects associated with RT and the technician's role in this modality of treatment.

List 3 common tumor types in dogs treated with radiation therapy and possible benefits of this treatment modality for each.
Describe acute and late side effects of radiation therapy, when they are likely to occur, and management techniques for these effects.
List 3 common tumor types in cats treated with radiation therapy and possible benefits of this treatment modality for each.
