Arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy is a diagnostic challenge because its phenotype can be difficult or impossible to distinguish from the normal state in some affected dogs. This presentation will review key aspects of current knowledge regarding the diagnosis of this type of heart disease in dogs, as well as presenting new information from recent studies.

Learning Objectives:

Understand the challenges inherent in establishing a definitive antemortem diagnosis of arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy in dogs
Be able to state the current diagnostic standards for the diagnosis of arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy in dogs
Describe at least 2 new diagnostic methods that have been explored recently for diagnosing arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy in dogs
