Evidence-based Approach to Drug Therapy in Large Animals

An evidence-based approach to making clinical decisions about pharmacotherapeutics includes asking a clinical question, searching for published evidence, appraising the evidence, and applying the evidence to patients. This session will focus on appraisal of published evidence and applying it to cases. With the use of case examples in ruminants and horses, important principles of critical reading will be highlighted, such as what do you really need to understand about statistics and what parts of a paper to skip over. Additional discussion will include what to do if there is not a lot of evidence for your clinical question.
