Treating dogs and cats with dilated cardiomyopathy can be a challenge in terms of managing arrhythmias and refractory heart failure, optimizing diet, addressing concurrent diseases, and optimizing medication adherence. This case-based talk will provide tips to optimize the treatment of animals with this difficult disease.

Identify common clinical challenges in dogs and cats with dilated cardiomyopathy.
Explain successful approaches to optimizing treatment of these clinical challenges.
