Candidate Function: MRI Artifacts and Pseudo-lesions

Artifacts and pseudo-lesions can be encountered when performing routine MRI and understanding these phenomena is an important part of practice, especially for those going into a practice setting in which there is not an on-site radiologist or the neurologist will be primarily responsible for running the MRI themselves. This 2-hour candidate function will serve to provide candidates information in regard to artifacts and pseudo-lesions frequently encountered on MRI. The first hour will be lecture-based and provide candidates with a review of the various artifacts and pseudo-lesions observed on MRI. The second hour will be an interactive, case-based session focused on identifying these changes on MRI and how these artifacts can be addressed to provide optimal image quality. The overall goal of this candidate function will not only prepare candidates for the specialty exam but also provide crucial information for use in practice.
