An understanding of qualify of life issues is an important component of the overall management of a pet with epilepsy. This presentation will provide an overview of current knowledge on the impact of canine epilepsy on quality of life, focusing on both the dog and its caregiver. The factors that contribute to quality of life and available assessment tools will be discussed, along with findings from studies reporting on quality of life in epilepsy.

Describe the factors that impact quality of life in dogs with epilepsy, and explain how these factors are assessed.
Describe the different types of burdens that are placed on caregivers of pets with epilepsy.
Develop methods to address quality of life issues as a component of the management plan for a pet with epilepsy.
