Health-related rehabilitation aims to enable people experiencing disability achieve optimal functioning and to maximize an indiividual's ability to work, live, and learn in one's natural environment. Services should meet needs at various stages of recovery, be person-centered and involve service users, their peers and their families. There is a lack of conceptual models which can be used worldwide to guide and classify health related rehabilitation service provisions in terms of organizational setting, technical and human resources, and goals. This lecture will be focus of global trends and future opportunities.
Learning Objectives:
To discuss challenges and opportunities in provision and delivery of rehabilitation services worldwide.
To understand whether or not sociodemographic, premorbid, and injury-related factors predict the probability of receiving rehabilitation services at three and six months after injury.
To familiarize oneself with models that can advance the effectiveness of rehabilitation service delivery.
