Michael Kriegel Ph.D. is one of the pioneers in the development of the field of Interdisciplinary Pain Rehabilitation. He has been a leader in the field since the 1980’s and is working to bring it back as the gold standard of care for patients who suffer from chronic pain. He developed the largest network of Interdisciplinary Pain Rehabilitation Centers in the nation and subsequently built and managed 22 facilities. Dr. Kriegel has co-authored a book on Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation of Low Back Pain, written 3 book chapters and has written 15 articles in various medical journals. Dr. Kriegel has recently led a group of national experts in the field of Pain Management in the revision of the pain standards for The Commission for Accreditation of Accreditation Facilities. He is currently leading a similar group of experts in the development of Consensus Practice Guidelines for the treatment of pain in collaboration with The American Academy of Pain Medicine.
