I am a researcher in the Center for Rehabilitation Outcomes Research (CROR) directed by Dr. Allan Heinemann at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. I am a research assistant professor in the Fienberg Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Northwestern University. I have an appointment at the University of Illinois at Chicago in the Occupational Therapy Program as an adjunct professor and am on the Advisory Board for the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy Program at Governors State University. I have over 40 years of experience as a master clinician providing wheelchair and seating services and am certified as an assistive technology practitioner (ATP) and seating and mobility specialist (SMS). I have expertise in all diagnoses across the lifespan that might result in mobility deficits. My career crosses into four main areas: clinical service delivery in wheelchairs and seating, education at the pre-and post-service arenas, research to gather evidence that substantiates my work, and advocacy for people with disabilities. I shared my expertise with nearly 200 presentations and 75 publications. My research background is with people with disabilities in areas of posture and breathing, motor learning, motivational interviewing, robotics, smart wheelchairs, wheelchair skills, wheelchair maintenance, and air travel
