Lisa Lighthall Haubert is a Research Physical Therapist and co-investigator at in the Pathokinesiology Laboratory at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center. She received her BS in Biopsychology from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1993, her MPT from the University of Southern California in 1996 and her DPT from Arcadia University in 2019. She has over 20 years of clinical and research experience in SCI rehabilitation. She has been the project coordinator on multiple NIH and NIDILRR-funded research grants documenting the shoulder demands of various activities of daily living for individuals with SCI including wheelchair propulsion, car transfers and walking with ambulatory aides. This research has focused on the weight-bearing shoulders of individuals with SCI, including the biomechanics of functional mobility and interventions to treat and prevent shoulder pain. More recently, Dr. Haubert has transitioned to identifying factors contributing to and the treatment of chronic pain after SCI. She supported a randomized clinical trial in persons with SCI investigating the effectiveness of a novel shoulder exercise intervention program that addresses shoulder pain as well as a follow up study exploring effectiveness of the program to prevent shoulder pain development. Dr. Haubert has also explored the efficacy of two different delivery formats of the shoulder pain prevention program in the clinical trial, and supported other studies aimed at identifying contributing factors to chronic pain after SCI and developing successful interventions to manage pain, including the development of the community-based programs. She is currently the co-investigator for a DOD funded study exploring the evolution of pain after spinal cord injury as well as Rancho's SCI Models System site-specific study exploring the effectiveness of a 10-week pain management program for those with chronic pain after SCI. She is adjunct clinical faculty at USC and a part-time lecturer at CSULB.
